Khatti Daal

A simple daal recipe that we normally get wrong. #HappyCookingToYou

Ingredients:

  • Pani (Water) 2-3 Cups or as required
  • Lal mirch powder (Red chili powder) 1 tsp or to taste
  • Haldee powder (Turmeric powder) ½ tsp
  • Namak (Salt) 1 tsp or to taste
  • Adrak lehsan paste (Ginger garlic paste) 1 tsp
  • Hara dhania (Fresh coriander) 1-2 tbs
  • Hari mirch (Green chillies) 2
  • Mong daal (Yellow lentil gram) 1/4 Cup (soaked for 10-15 minutes)
  • Masoor daal (Orange lentil gram) 3/4 Cup (soaked for 10-15 minutes)
  • Tamatar (Tomatoes) cubes 2 medium
  • Imli pulp (Tamarind pulp) ½ Cup
  • Cooking oil 3-4 tbs
  • Sabut lal mirch (Button red chillies) 4-5
  • Zeera (Cumin seeds) ½ tbs
  • Kari pata (Curry leaves) 15-20

Directions:

In pot,add water,red chili powder,turmeric powder,salt,ginger garlic paste,fresh coriander,green chili, yellow lentil gram,orange lentil gram,tomatoes,mix well and bring it to boil.

Cover partially and cook on low flame for 20-25 minutes or until tender then blend well with the help of the blender.

Add tamarind pulp,mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes.

In frying pan,add cooking oil,button red chillies and mix.

Add cumin seeds,curry leaves and fry for 30 seconds.

Now pour tadka in daal & serve!
