Korean Japchae Noodles

Ingredients:

  • Soy sauce 4 tbs
  • Til ka tel (Sesame oil) 3 tbs
  • Brown sugar powdered 2 tsp
  • Til (Sesame seeds) roasted 1 tbs
  • Lehsan (Garlic) crushed ½ tbs
  • Beef steak undercut 250g
  • Namak (Salt) ¼ tsp or to taste
  • Kali mirch powder (Black pepper powder) ½ tsp
  • Cooking oil 1-2 tbs
  • Palak (Spinach) 100g
  • Cooking oil 1-2 tbs
  • Mushrooms sliced ½ Cup
  • Gajar (Carrots) julienne 1 Cup
  • Pyaz (Onion) sliced 1 medium
  • Orange bell pepper julienne 1 medium
  • Yellow bell pepper julienne 1 medium
  • Namak (Salt) ½ tsp or to taste
  • Kali mirch powder (Black pepper powder) ½ tsp or to taste
  • Noodles boiled 250g *Authentic recipe calls for Korean sweet potato starch noodles*
  • Hara pyaz (Spring onion) leaves ½ Cup
  • Safed til (Sesame seeds)

Directions:

In a bowl,add soy sauce,sesame oil,brown sugar,sesame seeds,garlic,mix well & set aside.

Cut beef steak into strips.

In a bowl,add beef strips,2 tbs of prepared sauce (reserve remaining for later use),salt,black pepper powder & mix well,cover & marinate for 30 minutes.

In a wok,add cooking oil,marinated beef,mix well & cook until tender (8-10 minutes) & set aside.

In the same wok,add spinach & sauté until spinach is wilted (1-2 minutes) & set aside.

In a wok,add cooking oil,mushrooms & sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Add carrots,mix well & sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Add onion & mix well.

Add orange bell pepper,yellow bell pepper & mix well.

Add salt,black pepper powder,mix well & sauté for a minute.

Add beef strips,wilted spinach & mix well.

Add noodles,reserved sauce & mix well.

Add spring onion leaves & give it a good mix.

Sprinkle sesame seeds & serve with 7up!
